  1. Hi you answered my question the other day about the non-immigrant type B visa.

I am 19 years old so I am too young to apply for a work visa, I went to the thai embassy today and I was unable to extend my visa, I do not get paid and I am just training. I explained this all to them and I even had a letter from the school I used to go to in England before I finished education, I used it when getting the visa in the first place. All they did at the immigration office is tell me to get a work permit but I legally can’t.

Do I need to get a new visa altogether or can I go to a nearby country then return to Thailand and get it stamped for another 90 days?

    Thanks

    1. You will need another visa to stay longer in Thailand. If you are engaging in any type of work in Thailand, you will be required to apply for a proper visa. It is best that you coordinate with your company here in Thailand in regard to the process of obtaining one for yourself.

  2. I am a British Student who is interning with a Thai company.
I have a non-immigrant type B visa and it expires at the end of December.
How do I apply for a 90 day extension?

    1. If you have been issued with a work permit, you should be able to apply for an extension inside Thailand. Otherwise, you will need to apply for another visa at the Thai Embassy outside Thailand. Please check with your company if they are able to assist you with this.

  3. I am 49 years old and I am FRENCH but living in NEW CALEDONIA 9There is no Thai consulate/embassy in NEW CALEDONIA to apply for a visa.

I want to come to THAILAND from the 22 of January 2016 to 30 of May 2016. This is 4 months and 1 week. I can apply for a 2 month Tourist visa through the THAI Embassy in SYDNEY. After I can apply for one month extension

This gives me 3 months… OK

But how can I get the 5 weeks missing for my all stay?

    Thank you for your help

    1. If you are able to travel to France, then you can apply for a 6-month multi-entry visa at the Thai Embassy in your country. If this is not an option for you right now, however, you will need to apply for another tourist visa after your first one got expired.

    2. NEW CALEDONIA is 22000km away from FRANCE so this is not an option
      – Can I get a second TOURIST visa when I will be in THAILAND without going out from THAILAND ?
      Thank you

    3. No, you cannot apply for a tourist visa inside Thailand. Please visit the nearest Thai Embassy or Consulate in your location to apply for one.

  4. I have a non ed single entry visa and I have to extend visa 90days more , because my training will finished in March 31st and my visa Wil expire on 31st Dec. So what I have to do to extend the visa .
My company is supporting me to this.
    Please

    1. You might be required to lodge a new ED visa application at the Thai Embassy outside Thailand. Please check with the school where you are attending on how they can assist you in applying for your ED visa.

  5. Dear Sir/Madam,

I am from the UK and I am in Phuket on a single entry tourist visa. I would like to stay much longer than 60 days now. I know that I can get a 30 day extension from the immigration office in Phuket, but please could you tell me what I can do after that so that I can stay longer?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

    1. After you have applied for an extension to your tourist visa, you will be required to leave Thailand and apply for a new visa to stay longer in the country. As for your option, you may be able to get a tourist visa at the Thai Embassy or Consulate from any neighboring countries of Thailand.

  6. Friend of mine is ( foreigner) asking me, is it possible work and travel visa available in Thailand.
Your Answer will be highly appreciated.

    1. If a foreigner wish to travel and work to Thailand, he will need a proper visa which must be applied initially outside of Thailand. It is best that your friend contacts the company where he intends to work in Thailand to assist him with the visa application.

  7. Dear sir/madam
I have Ed visa to learn english in Pattaya and the first 3 months of my visa will be expired at 5th December. My school told me that I have to pay 5,000 THB to extend my visa because I am Iranian. I want to know if it is true? I marked present every session of my class and I don’t know why I should pay more money because of my nationality.

I asked them to give me a receipt but they didn’t. Is it new rule to pay more than 1,900 THB because of nationality or not? Even if my document is complete should I pay more money or not?

    Thank you in advance

    1. The 5,000 baht is a tea money for the immigration officer who will issue a 3 months extension and avoid any problem. As you know there is a crackdown on the issuance of 3 months extension of an ED visa.

  8. Hi i have a 90 day tourist visa and i am in Thailand but my visa is expiring in a week but i need to extend my stay in Phuket. What is the way?
    Thanks

    1. If you have not yet extended your visa, you can visit the immigration office and apply for an extension. Otherwise, you will need to do a visa run or apply for a new visa if you wish to stay longer in Thailand.

    1. Yes, you can. Their office address is at 117 Moo 10 Wiangphangkham, Maesai, Chiangrai. You can also visit any immigration office in Thailand if you wish to apply for an extension.

  9. Hello,

I came to Thailand on tourist visa and would like to know how many times can we extend the tourist visa.

    1. Tourist visa can only be extended once inside Thailand. If you wish to stay longer, you may either apply for a new visa or do a visa run.

  10. Hello,

Many of my friends staying here in Bangkok on Tourist Visa and selling gemstones and some of them working in Gem showrooms at Jewelry Trade Centre, in Silom Road. Is it legal to sell gemstones in Thailand without work permit using Tourist Visa and Retirement Visa for business purposes?

    1. Technically, you will need a proper visa and work permit if you wish to legally conduct a business in Thailand.

  11. I am entering Thailand by land and will only get two week visa can I extend this for an addition 2 weeks (or 30 day) inside Thailand? Or do I need to exit thiland and re enter? Thanks

    1. Depending on your nationality, you may be able to get an extension to your visa, but it’s likely that you will just be given 7 days. Doing an exit and re-entry to Thailand will give you 15 days of stay, so this might be the better option for you.

  12. Hello!
I am Bulgarian citizen. I am already tourist in Bangkok. My visa expire date is until 26 th of October. 2015. Is there any legal way to extend it until 10th of November, because the visa of my husband is until then. He apply and receive 30 days from Thai Embassy in Croatia, and me just 15 days on VISA on Arrival desk on the Airport. Thank you in advance for the information

    1. You will need to leave Thailand on or before the expiration of your visa on arrival (VOA). As a recommendation, you may travel to a nearby country, then come back and apply for the VOA at the airport. The VOA validity is only for 15 days, so you might want to consider making an advance planning on your trips (e.g., perhaps stay in another country for one day before returning back to Thailand).

  13. I have a double-entry tourist visa, I have extended for 30 days at immigration after my second entry. I plan to go get another double-entry tourist visa from Laos, but I would like an extra 30 days. In the past, I managed to get an extra 90 days after my tourist visa had expired, two 30 day exemption stamps at the border and another 30 day extension at immigration. I know that was very lucky, and the rules have changed now regarding 30 day exemption stamps from borders, but I only need another 30 days this time. I was wondering if I would be able to get another 30 day extension for 1900baht at immigration?

    1. You should still be able to get a 30-day extension if your current visa has not yet been extended. Please visit any immigration office in Thailand for more information.

  14. Hello! I study in Thailand and came here with a non-immigrant visa, single entry. I changed it to a multiple entry visa while here. Now I have the possibility to extend my visa with a letter from my university and will then be able to stay until the 31 of December (my visa ends at the beginning of November). My question is, what happens if I leave the country and come back by airplane during my visa extension? Will my visa be cancelled and will I only get a 30-days tourist visa when entering again?

    1. Your visa might get cancelled if it is a single-entry visa. If you will be required to leave and come back to Thailand during the validity period of your visa, make sure that you will apply for a re-entry permit before your exit trip from Thailand.

  15. Hi
I have an Non-imm “O” category visa for 90 days but I want to stay three and a half months. Can I get an extension when in Thailand to
    cover that?

    1. Your ability to get an extension for your visa will depend on your qualification or whether you meet the requirements. As an option, you may do a border run trip to a neighboring country to get another 15 or 30 days visa-free entry to Thailand.

  16. I have a 30 day tourist visa running out the on the 25th September (next weekend). When should I file my application for a 30 day extension? How long does the process usually take?

    Thank you,

    Sarah

    1. Applying for an extension normally takes less than an hour depending on the number of applicants in a given day. You may apply for the extension on or before expiration of your tourist visa.

  17. Hello, my daughter is a UK citizen and is studying in Thailand. She has a one-year ED visa.

She has booked a flight to Australia, but it leaves two weeks after her visa expires.

Can she apply for a 2-week (or 30-day) visa extension or must she do a “visa run”?

She will probably stay in Australia for 2 months and then apply for a tourist visa before coming back to Thailand. Sometime next year (after 3 months), she will continue her studies and apply for an ED visa.

    Many thanks for your information

    1. It is best if your daughter can check with her school if they can assist with getting her an extension to her visa. Otherwise, she will be required to make a border trip to obtain another 30 days permit to stay in Thailand.

  18. Hi, I have a 60 day visa set to expire on 13th Sept and have a couple of questions.

    – If I get the 30 day extension will that add 30 days to 13th Sept or from the date I have the extension granted?

    – I’d like to stay for another 90 days once the extension is up – what are the options?

    – I heard the government is introducing a new 180 day tourist visa, when will that come into effect?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

    1. The extension will be added to the up-until date indicated in your passport stamp. If you wish to stay for another 90 days, your option is to apply for a tourist visa from a neighboring country of Thailand. Thai Embassies in Laos are the usual option by many in applying for tourist visa. The 6-month multiple entry visa will be available starting November 13, 2015.

  19. I have a 30 day (given on arrival) visa. This expires 13th Aug. I would like to extend to 14th September. Can I come into Phuket immigration and do this on the 13th ? If it is one or two days short what is my best option ?

    Thankyou
    Jan

    1. Any immigration office in Thailand can extend it for 30 days for a fee of 1,900 baht. No further extension available after you have used this extension.

  20. I have a 30 tourist visa, but I need to change to the ED Visa for University. How and where can I do this?

    1. ED visa application must be lodged outside of Thailand. Please coordinate with your University in regard to the application processing.

  21. Hi!

How do we get a 60 day tourist visa? I know we get 30 days on arrival at airport, but would like to have 60 and then extend 30 more days in Pattaya if possible. I’m from Norway if that matters in any way. How many times can I get that 30 day extension in Pattaya? Is it possible to get another 60 days if I leave the country for a few days? Thank you for any help.

    1. You may apply for a tourist visa at the Thai Embassy or Consulate in your country. A tourist visa can be extended to another 30 days at any immigration office in Thailand. Extension can only be applied for once. As long as you can prove to the Thai Consular that your purpose of trip is solely for tourism, then you can get a tourist visa when you reapply for one.

  22. Thai Tourist Visa:
“Another extension of another 7 days” What it mean? Is it free or still need to pay 1,900 THB for 7 days? Please explain me.

Dear Sir, I have 3 month Thai Tourist Visa. On arrival I got 60 days stamping. Now I just want to extend more 5days, is it free or need to pay 1,900 THB?

    Thank you,

    PK

    1. You will need to pay the extension fee of THB 1,900 in order for you to extend your stay in Thailand. Since you have a tourist visa right now, the length of extension that you’ll get is automatically for 30 days.

  23. Hi I have a 30 day tourist visa which is about to expire what is the maximum I can extend at the pattaya immigration office without leaving Thailand. thank you

    1. Hi Tony!

You may apply for an extension of 30 days by paying the extension fee of THB 1,900 at the immigration office in Pattaya.
