  1. i have over stayed my visa which was brought to my attention today due to my friend i was travelling with leaving thailand to return to home. Whilst in england i applied for a
3 month visa and i have now only stayed in thailand just over two months so i never thought nothing of this as i believe i was able to stay to up to 3 months. I now understand there is a 500 baht fee to pay for each day i have over stayed. When i go to imergration and pay this fee am i going to be asked to leave the country or isit possible for my stay to be exstended?

    1. First and foremost, we advice that you sort out this issue the soonest possible time. Secondly, you are likely to be required to leave Thailand by the immigration officer if you try to settle this at the immigration office. We advice that you immediately book a flight to exit the country and settle the overstay fine at the airport.

  2. Will the immigration office be closed during the upcoming Chinese new year? Will the opening hours be different?

    1. Chinese New Year is not considered as a non-working holiday in Thailand and, therefore, immigration offices should be open on that day.

  3. My visa expires on the 24th of February. Is it too early to apply for a 7 day extension?

    1. This will depend on the type of visa that you have. Please contact the immigration office directly regarding your concern.

  5. Need to transfer my retirement Visa from my old passport to my new passport is there a charge for this courtesy service?

    1. You will need to go to the Immigration Office near your area of residency to transfer your visa to your new passport. As regards the fee, it’s the officer who will inform you about it.

  6. Good morning I have tourist visa and I like to marry my girlfriend. What I don’t understand is after marrying her, what visa I need to apply for stay in Thailand with her. Thanks.

    1. Depending on the nationality of your girlfriend, you may be able to apply for a non-immigrant O visa once you got married and given that you meet all the other requirements.

  7. I read online that getting into Thailand by land only gets you a 15 day visa.

Is it possible to get an extension in the Pattaya immigration office or do I have to do it in Bangkok, as I am arriving through Cambodia next week.

    1. You should be able to apply for an extension to your stay at any immigration office in Thailand.

  8. Hello! On Dec 30th I applied for a 30 day extension at the Jomtien Immigration Office. However, today I have noticed that they just gave me 29 days as the stamp indicates that I can stay here until Jan 27th.
Is it possible that the officer who issued my visa extension did a mistake? Do I have to come back and complain?
I paid for 30 days, not 29. Im very disappointed.
    Thank you so much.

    1. It is possible that the officer made a mistake. Although it might not be of any use to make a complain against them, you may go back there and check with them on how they can rectify the problem.

  9. I have a 60 day single entry visa which runs out on Saturday 6th Feb. I want to apply for 30 day extension from that date but Immigration Office is not open on Saturday. How do I go about applying for an extension from that day?

    1. You may extend your visa at the immigration office from up to 30 days before the date of your visa expiration. We suggest that you apply for the extension before February 6.

  10. Hello, my 90 day check in is due on Jan 30, 2016 but that is a Saturday and your office is closed. Can I come in on Friday the 29th instead?

    1. The 90-day visa reporting can be done up to 7 days before or 7 days after the due date indicated on the notification receipt.

By the way, we would like to inform you that we are not the Immigration Office, nor are we connected, in any way, to any government offices or agencies in Thailand. We advice that you contact the Immigration Office directly in case you have any other concern which is relating to their office hours.

  11. Hello,

Thank you for your reply, is it possible to apply for another visa inside Thailand after your 30 day extension or would I need to leave Thailand and apply for it elsewhere and then return again ?

    Thank you

    1. You cannot apply for tourist visas inside Thailand and, therefore, you will need to leave the country after your 30 days extension has expired.

  12. Hello,

I am staying in Thailand now and I have a 60 day single entry visa. I would like to extend for another 60 days. I have been told by some friend so can purchase a 30 day visa extension at Jomtien but for the other 30 days I must leave Thailand and return again by air. Is it not possible to purchase a 60 day visa or a 30 day visa two times?

    Thank you

    1. You can only extend your tourist visa once. If you wish to stay longer in Thailand after your extension is already over, you will need to apply for a new visa.

  13. Hello, I have a question. Me and my girl friend are in Thailand for the 3rd time in a short period. Our passport stamps says that we can stay until the 1st of February. So I now wonder is it possible to extend the visit about 30 days longer? Thank you!

    1. If you have not yet applied for any extension to your current stay, you may be able to apply for a 30-day extension at the immigration office.

  14. Hi,

Last year I went to Thailand initially on a 30 day tourist visa. I then extended this for a further 90 days on a family visit visa as my Thai wife still lives there. I entered Thailand on the 1st July 2015 and left on the 27th September 2015. As far as I am aware, I am only able to visit and stay in Thailand for 90 days every 6 months on a tourist visa. Is this correct and if so, is this counted from when I entered Thailand or left the country?

Or please advise if there are any other visas I could enter Thailand on if a tourist visa is not an option just yet.
    Thanks.

    1. If you just applied for a tourist visa, you can apply for another one without having to wait for 6 months. As a recommendation, you can also apply for a non-immigrant O visa on the basis of your marriage with your Thai spouse. If you want to know more about this option, you can leave your contact details and a Thai Visa Specialist from our firm will get in touch with you soon.

  15. Hello, I am here as an expat, from Denmark, working as a chef trainee. I have a non-immigrant ED visa, which expires in February. Can I extend the visa at the immigration office? If so, which documents do I need to bring with me and how much will it cost?

My period of stay is until July 28th 2016.

    Regards
    James

    1. Your ability to extend your visa in Thailand will depend on your school if they are able to provide the necessary documents. It’s best if you can coordinate with your school in this regard.

  16. Good Evening,
I have thai wife and i have marriage visa. I have got this visa last year June and will expire in June 2016 but someone has told me last year marriage visa has been cancelled. Can you please update me about this if it is correct or not and how to check my visa?

    1. The marriage visa is available, and has never been cancelled, to those who are legally married to their Thai spouse and are able to meet the financial requirement.

    1. You can pay the overstay fine at the airport before leaving the country. When you go to the immigration office to report your overstay, chance is, you will be required to exit Thailand to get a new visa after you have settled the fine.

    2. Thank you!
Sorry I should have made clearer – can you pay the fine in advance before your visa expires?
Example, flight to leave is booked for 26th January but visa expires 22nd Januay

    3. The overstay fine cannot be paid in advance at the immigration office. If applying for an extension to your stay at the immigration office is no longer an option, you may pay the overstay fine at the airport before your flight.

2- How many days visa i need to change my tourist visa to non O and apply for one year retirement visa?

    Kind Regards
    A.Sharafi

    1. You may refer to the website below for information on the national holidays in Thailand. In applying for the non-immigrant O visa inside Thailand (while currently being on a tourist visa), you will need to have at least 3 weeks left on your visa validity. Moreover, converting of tourist visa to non-immigrant O visa is not available in all immigration offices in Thailand. If you wish to get further legal advise on your concern, you may leave your phone number and we will have a Thai Visa Specialist contact you soon.

  21. Dear sirs,

We arrived in Bangkok on Dec. 15th and received a visa that will last until Jan. 13th, 2016. Our flight back will be on Jan. 14th, 2016. What will be the procedure to extend the visa for 1 day for my husband and me?

Appreciating your efforts, I remain with kind regards

    Elisabeth Naumann

    1. You will need to visit any immigration office in Thailand to apply for an extension. There is, however, no option to extend the visa for just one day. If you are unable to obtain the extension, you will just be required to pay for the overstay fine of THB 500 per day.

    Regards W.de.Wit

    1. It is best that you contact or visit the immigration office where you wish to do the extension to confirm their office hours. In general, all the immigration offices in Thailand are close during national holidays (see the website below for reference on the national holidays in Thailand).

  23. I was planning to come to Immigration on Friday (11 Dec) to file a TM30 form but I am reading that Friday is a holiday. Will the office be open, please?

I shall be staying in a condo which I own for 4 weeks. Apart from the TM30 form itself and my passport, what do I need to bring with me, please?

    1. Immigration offices are closed during national holidays. In filing a TM 30, you will also need to provide proof of your address such as contract, lease agreement, etc.
