  1. My visa expires April 22, with the option to extend for 30 days. My problem is my return ticket home is not until July 5. I was planning to fly out of the country on the April 22nd and return later after May 7. Would I get 30 days and be allowed to extend afterwards? which would place me at the right exit date…

    1. Yes, you will be given 30 days when you re-enter Thailand on May 7th. That will take you until first week of June. This 30-day entry visa can be extended for 30 days at local immigration office. Alternatively, on April 22nd, you can go to a nearby country and apply for a 60-day tourist visa, this visa will be activated when you re-enter on may 7th and you will be allowed to stay for 60 days from date of entry.

  4. Hello :)

I am from Australia. I came into Thailand on the 29th of January and on the 26th of February I went to KL for 1 night then came back into Thailand and got another 30 days exemption visa.

If I go to the immigration in Phuket (Patong beach), is it possible to still get another 30 days for 1900 baht?

  6. Hi! On the 7th of March I travelled into Thailand by land, getting a 14 day visa. I’m leaving the country on the 30th of March, so I need to extent my visa. Will I be able to get a 30 day extention when I travel to the Immigration Office in Bangkok? Or will they only be able to provide me with a 7-day extention?

Thanks in advance for your reply!

  7. Hi,

I am French and realize I’ll be staying 31 days… March 18th till April 19th. Do you think that they will give me trouble if I do not get a visa?

    Thank you so much.

    Mathieu
PS: I haven’t been to thailand in 4 years

  8. I am currently in Thailand on a 15 day visa as I’m Irish and came by land. I want to extend my visa for another 15days. Where in Thailand is best to do this? Can I do it in Krabi?

  9. I want to come to Thailand again next year but this time for 90 days. I will apply for a single entry 60 day visa in the UK and hopefully visit Jomtien for a 30 days extension. What if the rules change before we get here and we are not able to obtain the visa extension? My main concern is that we will have booked a return flight early which cannot be altered?

    1. You definitely get the extension. If the Pattaya immigration office only gives 7 days, I suggest for you to travel to Bangkok because you definitely can get 30 days extension of the 60-day tourist visa. It is a regulation or immigration order that has been in place for more than 10 years already.

  10. I entered via Bangkok on the 30th January. I have 2 visas on my Passport (Malta) The Thai consultant said I need to get a extension after 60 days, for another 30 days. Then, after the 30 days are up I need to leave the country and renter. I have the same visa stamped already on my passport and can I stay another 60 days and then need a extension for another 30 days? Is that correct? Any help would be very much appreciated.

  11. Hi,
Do you get a 30 day visa when you enter Thailand by land, same as when you fly into Thailand? As I read online this is now the case, would appreciate if you could clarify this.

Also can I extend my 30 day visa while in Thailand? If so where can this be done? Can this be done in Phuket?

  17. Hi,

I am looking to travel to Thailand at the beginning of May. My partner is completing a teaching course with a guaranteed placement in a school at the beginning of April. Can I travel to Thailand on a tourist visa and then once I find an intertership at a scuba diving company, change my visa to a non immigrant b visa?

  18. Good afternoon Sir/Madame,

I’m writing to you because of what we read about the new visa rules that will be implemented on March 20. I carefully read the notice but never I read about children who stay here under 4 years old.

My Son is 4 years old and the last entry of my son here in Thailand is from November 24, 2015 admitted until December 8, 2015 due to he went with me in Laos to process my student visa.

    Sir/Madame,
My Question is, do my son need also a visa? Is it compulsory? Does he be included in this law? I’m planning already to bring him in school this coming May 2016. Please help me I hope to have a good answer so I can make a move or a plan what to do about this situation. I will spread also the news to all the Filipina mothers in our community here in Pattaya.

    Thank you

    1. All foreigners, regardless of their age, are required to obtain a proper visa to enter Thailand for any purpose other than tourism and if staying for an extended period of time. Since you are planning to bring your son to school, it’s best that you check with the institution on how they can assist you with the visa for your son. Or, depending on your visa right now, you may also apply for a dependent visa for him.

  19. Hello,

I landed in Bangkok on the 2nd of February and stayed one night before flying to Vietnam. I got a 30 day visa exemption for this which was stamped in and out. I need to fly out of Bangkok again on the 17th of March and wish to stay for another night in the city, will I be able to get another exemption for this? I’m entering the country via the Cambodian border, will the border security be able to give me a short 2 day visa or something similar?

    1. Yes, as long as you can prove to the immigration officer that your purpose of trip is for tourism and that you will not stay in Thailand for more than the allowed period.
