  8. I am currently working in Thailand and have a non immigrant RS visa (same as normal for working but I do not need a work permit).

I will quit working here and leave Thailand. However, after my contract expires (and my visa at the same day) I need to stay another 10-15 days. I called the immigration but they could not advice me how to do it and told me to leave the country to get a new visa. But that is a very impractical and expensive solution for me.

I was told about a 7 days extension by the immigration but next time I was in contact with them they told me I might not be granted that because that was if one needed time to prepare papers between jobs and not for when one finish work and need time to pack and arrange things before leaving. And they therefore said it could very well be declined.

Can you please advice how I can solve this solution in a legal and practical way. As it is now I have the choice of either breaking my contract or the visa rules. I do not like either of those

    1. If immigration will not allow you to extend your current visa, then you would need to exit Thailand. Depending on the passport that you hold, you may be able to do a border run and enter the country visa-free.

      You have 2 options:

      • Single Entry Tourist visa for 60 days which can be extended for another 30 days at a local immigration office in Thailand
      • 6 month multi entry tourist visa which allows you a maximum of 60 days stay for each entry. Note that you can extend each entry for another 30 days at a local immigration office in Thailand
