  1. Hi,

What is the procedure to get a medical visa for Indian with visa on arrival and how much does it cost? How can you help?

    1. A visa extension based on medical purposes must have a strong evidence that you will not be able to travel thus need an extension on your current visa. We are unable to assist with this type of extension. You will need to visit the immigration office in your current location in Thailand to apply for such.

  2. Hello,

I renewed my initial 30-day visa in Bangkok one month ago. I am now approaching the end of my 1st extension, as it will be finished tomorrow the 19th of October. So, I have been in the country almost 60 days. I wish to stay for one more month. Can I renew my visa for one more month here at the visa immigration office on Koh Samui? Or do I have to leave the country and do a border crossing to do this?
    Thanks.

    1. You will need to exit Thailand before your extension expires as you cannot apply for a second extension. Depending on your nationality, you can enter Thailand without a visa for 30 days if you arrive by air, or 15 days if you arrive by land and sea.

  3. Hi,

My visa is going to expire on November 8th but I can’t really go to the immigration office until the 31st of October. Would it be a problem if I go then? Or do I have to go earlier?

    1. Please specify what type of visa you currently have so we may properly advise you.

  4. I have a 90 days O single entry but I will be in Thailand for a further 92 days. How will I go about getting the remainder of the time? Will I have to go out every 30 days?

    Thanks.
    john

    1. Depending on your purpose of stay, you may apply for a visa from a Thai embassy or consulate in a neighboring country for the duration of your stay after the 90-day visa has expired.

  5. I will arrive in Thailand from the UK on 1st November on the 30 day exemption. If I leave and re-enter the country at the end of November, will that extend me until 23rd Dec when I return to the UK? I have to return to Thailand in early January and need to stay until April. I will apply for a visa in London, but will previous exemption stamps prohibit me?

    1. Based on your UK passport, if you leave by the end of November and come back at the beginning of December, you will receive another 30-day visa exemption stamp from the date of your entry.

Having a prior visa exemption stamp does not prohibit you from applying for a tourist visa.

    1. The duration that you will get upon entry to Thailand will depend on your passport and if you enter by air, land or sea. Generally, if your country is one of those who can enter on Visa Exemption, you will get an entry stamp good for 30 days if you arrive by air, and 15 days if you arrive by land or sea. For specific information based on your country, you may visit the website below.

  6. I am in Thailand for a total of 83 days and I already have the 60 day tourist visa but am wondering if I will need to apply for an extension because Thailand offer the first 28days visa exemption and I’m just wondering if the 60 days start from the 29th day or at the very beginning.

    1. The 60-day duration of stay will start upon entry to Thailand. You can apply for the visa extension at an immigration office to cover your entire trip. The duration will depend on the passport you hold.

For the visa-free entry, it will also depend on what passport you hold and if you enter by air, land or sea. Please visit the link below for information regarding the Visa Exemption rules.

  7. My husband and I want to visit Thailand and stay about 12 months, whilst also visiting other neighboring countries, e.g., Laos, Cambodia, etc. What would be the best visa for us? One of us is over 50 years old.

    1. Kindly get in touch with the Thai embassy or consulate near your location for information about the best visa option based on your purpose of travel to Thailand.

  8. I had a 60 day tourist visa from the UK and extended it in Samui for a further 30 days. That’s 90 days stay in total. This will finish soon. What are my options now for a new visa? Thanks.

    1. You will need to exit Thailand and apply for an appropriate visa based on your purpose of travel. Kindly get in touch with the Thai embassy or consulate in your home country, or a Thai embassy or consulate in a neighboring country for assistance.

  9. I will be obtaining a 90 day non O visa from U.K. as I am told I can’t have a multiple entry 12 month visa. I am planning a 6-month stay based on me being retired and needing a long holiday for 6 months. Can I extend my 90-day into another 90-day whilst I am in Thailand? I have already booked my return airline ticket based on a 6 months stay before I was told by the Hull Consulate the rules have changed and a visa if successful is only for 90 days.

    Thank You.

    1. If the basis of your application for a 90-day Non Immigrant O visa is on the premise that you are retiring in Thailand, the extension is good for a 1-year period. There are certain requirements that you need to meet before you can apply for the extension.

If the purpose of your stay in Thailand is for a holiday, you can actually apply for a 6-month Multi Entry Tourist Visa. You may ask the Thai consulate in Hull if they are able to issue this, otherwise, you may get in touch with the Thai Consulate in London.

  10. I have a 60-day tourist visa. I’m a German citizen with permanent resident visa in Australia. My current visa expires on 28 October. I would like to stay in Thailand (Chiang Mai) until 22 December. How is that possible? can I get a 60-day extension on my current visa? Or are there other alternatives?

    1. You can apply for a 30-day extension at the local immigration office in Chiang Mai. If you need more time after the extension, you may exit through any land border and re-enter for a 30-day visa free entry stamp based on your German passport.

  11. I am a Canadian who is planning to travel to Phuket December 1, 2016. I would like to stay in the country for 4 months. I understand I am allowed a 30-day stay. I also understand visa extensions can only be obtained while in the country. So, is it okay if I travel to Phuket and then apply for the extension while I am there? Also, do I have to apply for an extension after each 30 days or can I get it extended once to my planned departure date of March 31, 2016? Thank you for your assistance.

    1. It is best that you apply for a 60-day single entry tourist visa from the Thai embassy or consulate near your location. You can apply for a 30-day extension on the tourist visa before it expires at a local immigration office in Phuket. If you do this, you will have a 3-month stay on the same visa.

You can then exit before the 3-month period expires and re-enter at any border to receive a 30-day visa exemption stamp.
