Thailand Tourist Visa

Travelers may now enter Thailand for tourism purposes. The following conditions are for applicants who wish to apply for a Tourist visa (Single Entry only):

  • Tourist Visa is valid for a single entry into Thailand for tourism purposes only.
  • Tourist Visa is valid for 3 months from the date of issuance. Travelers must enter Thailand within the said 3-month period. They will be allowed to stay in Thailand for a period of up to 60 days, counting from the date of entry. The extension is possible for another 30 days, with a maximum period of stay of 90 days, counting from the date of entry.
  • If the Tourist Visa holders breach the entry conditions (for example, if he/she engages in work-related activities), the stay permit will be revoked and he/she will be prohibited from entering Thailand in the future.

From 18 February 2021, visa applicants in the United States are required to apply online through the website. If the applicant does not have a valid visa or re-entry permit, the applicant must request a visa, at least 15 working days before the intended date of travel, by filling in the information and upload all required documents online at https://www.thaievisa.go.th

How to Apply for Thai Tourist Visa Online

  1. Create an Account
  2. Fill in the Application Form
  3. Upload Supporting Documents
  4. Book Appointment
  5. Pay Visa Fee
  6. Submit Documents at Embassy/Consulate
  7. Wait for Visa to be Processed
  8. Collect Visa at Embassy/Consulate

The Royal Thai Embassy / Consulates-General will review the application and will send an email requesting the applicant to submit the following required documents through mail to the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington D.C. or Royal Thai Consulate-General in Los Angeles, Chicago, or New York.

Required Documents for Visa Application

  1. Actual Passport or Travel Document. (must not expire within 6 months and contain at least TWO completely empty visa pages).
  2. Passport-size photographs (2″x2″)
    • Photographs must have a light color background.
    • Full-face view of the person without wearing a hat or dark glasses and
      covering up shoulders.
    • Photos must be taken within 6 months.
  3. Visa application form (http://thaiembdc.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Visa-Form-2015.pdf), if the applicant doesn’t have a valid Thai visa
  4. Flight confirmation/reservation, showing going from the US to Thailand and leaving from Thailand. (The name of the applicant must be indicated clearly.)
  5. Recent bank statement
    • $700 per person and $1,500 per family.
      (20,000 Baht per person and 40,000 Baht per family)
    • The name of the applicant must be indicated clearly.
    • In case of submitting family bank statement a proof of relationship
      (i.e. birth certificate, marriage certificate) must be provided.
  6. For minor under 20 years old, please provide the following documents
    • Copy of a birth certificate.
    • Copy of marriage certificate, In case of sole custody notarized copy of the court order, must be provided.
    • Copy of passports or ID of mother and father/ legal guardian.
    • Original letter of notarized consent for the minor to travel abroad from
      mother and father/legal guardian.

    Note: All supporting materials that are not in English must be accompanied by certified English translations and certified by an embassy only.

  7. COVID-19 Insurance
    Medical insurance guaranteeing that the insurance company will cover a minimum of 100,000 USD (or equivalent in other currencies) of medical costs incurred by the applicant in Thailand, including medical costs in the event that the applicant contracts COVID-19 (The insurance must cover the entire duration of stay in Thailand), for the COVID 19 insurance, please check https://www.siam-legal.com/axa-insurance
  8. ASQ Hotel Reservation
    From 1 May 2021, If granted entry all travelers will be quarantined for 14 days of Alternative State Quarantine regardless of their country of origin or vaccination status.

After receiving a visa, the applicant may request the Certificate of Entry (COE) at https://coethailand.mfa.go.th

Required Documents for Entry to Thailand

From 14 January 2021, all travelers who have received COEs are required to download and register via the ThailandPlus Application. They are required to show a QR code generated from the registration via the Application to be scanned by the Thai authority upon arrival in Thailand. At the departure airport and upon entry to Thailand, the approved applicant is required to present.

  1. A “Certificate of Entry” issued by The Royal Thai Embassy or the Royal Thai Consulates-General.
  2. Medical insurance guaranteeing that the insurance company will cover a minimum of 100,000 USD (or equivalent in other currencies) of medical costs incurred by the applicant in Thailand, including medical costs in the event that the applicant contracts COVID-19 (The insurance must cover the whole duration of stay in Thailand).
  3. COVID-19 (RT-PCR) test with a laboratory result indicating that COVID -19 is not detected, issued no more than 72 hours before departure.
  4. ThailandPlus Application.
