  1. Hello,

I came to Thailand with a 60-day tourist visa. I already got a 30-day extension, which is good till December 1. How many times am I allowed to get 30-day extensions? Or do I have to do a visa run after the full 90 days is up?

    1. You can only extend the tourist visa once. Before the extension expires, you will need to exit Thailand and apply for the appropriate visa before you return.

    Thanks.

  6. I’m Ukrainian. I have tourist 60 day visa which expires in December 7. I would like to stay in Thailand till January 20. What should I do to extend for such a period?

    1. You can apply for a visa extension at an immigration office in Thailand once you arrive however this is only for another 30 days on top of the 60-day tourist visa.

If you need to stay longer, you will need to exit Thailand before the visa extension expires, re-enter and apply for a visa on arrival which is good for 15 days.

  7. I am a French citizen staying in Bangkok. I have a 60 days tourist visa which will expire on the 23rd of October. I would like to get the 30 days extension. What documents should I bring? And should I wait the last minute to do it because I am afraid that I will loose some days if I am doing it too early.

Are the 30 days added to the 60 days from the visa or starting the date I will come to the immigration?

    Thanks.

  10. Hi,

I am from Iran. I am now in Bangkok. My tourist visas will be expired in 24 October. I am waiting for the university in Thailand to prepare my contract to start my job as a postdoctoral in Thailand for one year. When should I apply for changing visas from tourist to the visas that is needed for postdoctoral? If the process in university becomes longer, can I go to countries around Thailand and come back to get visas? I can not come back to Iran to get visas from Thailand Embassy since it will be very expensive for me.

    Thanks.

Note: I have already booked the return tickets yesterday not knowing this.

  14. I have a 6 month Multiple Entry visa, which is valid until 6th March 2017 as I do voluntary work in Bangladesh but am withdrawing from the project I work at in Bangladesh slowly. I entered Thailand on 14th September and will visit Langkawi by sea and return to Phuket on 11th October (to reset the 60 days I can stay per visit). I will leave for Bangladesh on 11th December and return around 8th February. I will then need to extend my visa as I will leave again for Bangladesh at the start of May. How can I continue to stay in Thailand for up to 90 days before returning to Bangladesh? I want to do this until January 2018. Thanks for the help.

    1. Based on the validity of your visa, you must enter Thailand before March 6. You will then be given a 60-day stamp at the airport which you can extend for another 30 days. This gives you a total of 90 days on your last entry.

If you want to enter Thailand again, after your visa has expired, you need to apply for the appropriate visa depending on the duration you wish to travel to Thailand.
