  1. Dear Sir/Madame,

I am in possession of a British Passport (British Protected Person). I had previously travelled to Thailand in 2006 and was exempt of a Thai Visa.
Can you please advise if the rule still exists and that I can still avail of the exemption.

Thanking you and awaiting your response at the earliest.

    1. Yes, British passport holders who are travelling for tourism purpose only are entitled to a 30-day visa-free entry to Thailand through the visa exempt agreement.

  2. I am Lebanese, my visa in thailand is 3 monthes and it will be expired at 22 november 2015, i want to renew my visa for 3 monthes more. How i can do?

    1. You will need to apply for a new visa at the Thai Embassy or Consulate outside Thailand.

  3. Dear Sir,

I have arrived to Thailand on the 30th of October with a 60 days tourist Visa paid already in my country before coming to Thailand. I am italian. My Visa will expire on the 28th of December which is a sunday. I would like to apply for another 30 days extension of my tourist Visa. I will then leave Thailand on the 28th of Juanuary. What are my options since the 28th is a sunday? Can I get an extension that will allow me to stay till my departure on the 28th of January? Coming to the local Immigration office is the only option to get an extension or can I also consider to go in one of the Neighbord country? If I would for example go to Cambodia how many days will I receive? Still 30 days?

Thanks very much in advance for your kind cooperation.
    My best regards,

    Stefania

    1. Your option is to either visit an immigration office and apply for an extension to your stay or you may also go to a neighboring country of Thailand and do visa run. When applying for an extension at the immigration office, you can do this process a few days earlier than the end date of your permitted stay and, therefore, you don’t necessarily have to do it on December 28. Also, your extension, even when applied at an earlier date, will still start after December 28.

  4. Dear Sirs,
I enter to Suvarnabhumi at te 11th of November, then I flew to Shanghai for 4 days, came back on the 15th. Stayed in Thailand till the 20th and went to Laos. In both cases I had a visa on arriving for 30 days. After coming back from Laos I got 15 days. I ask a police station and they explain to me that visa by land is only 15 days. My flight back to Greece (Egyptair MS 961) is on the 17th of December at 00.50. I need to extend my visa for one or two days. What I have to do in this case?
    Best regards

    1. You may visit any immigration office in Thailand to apply for an extension to your stay.

  5. I am arriving by land and understand I can only get a 15 day on arrival visa. I would like to stay 45 days. Can I get a 30 day extension in Chaing Mai, Koh Samui or Bangkok? If yes, how long would this process take?

    I have an Australian passport.

    Thank you!

    1. Since you are holding an Australian passport. you will be given 30 days entry stamp at the border. Before its expiration, you may go to any immigration office and apply for an extension.

  6. Dear Sirs,

Could you write me please, will they have any problems with the return to Phuket from Singapore? May be they need to put re-entry stamp when they arrive to Phuket?

Can they visit Phuket Immigration Office ant put re-entry stamp there ?

    1. Citizens of Russia are entitled to a 30-day visa-free entry to Thailand if travelling for tourism purpose. Therefore, you will not need a visa nor a re-entry permit for your trip to Thailand from December 27, 2015 to January 17, 2016. However, you might be required to show proof of booked flight tickets and evidence of sufficient finances in order to be given the 30 days stamp at the airport.

  7. I am holding a tourist visa from 19.11.2015 to 18.02.2016. At the time of immigration at the Bangkok airport the stamp put on my passport read “admitted 22.11.2015 until 20.01.2016.”

Does it mean that I can stay here till 20.01.2016 without any need to extend my visa?

    Regards

    1. The “admitted until” date is the date when you are allowed to stay in Thailand. If you wish to stay longer than the date indicated on your passport, you may either apply for an extension at the immigration office or leave and re-enter Thailand to be given another entry stamp.

  8. I am here on a 30 day visa that expires on the 17th of December and I will be leaving the country on the 6th of January. What is my best option for extending my visa? Is it true that a land border crossing into Laos will only give me 15 days?

  9. Thank you for your previous reply. So if I cannot get the METV in neighboring country with Thailand, can I get the 60 days singe entry tourist visa there instead? And after 60 days leave Thailand and apply again in neighboring country for another 60 days single entry? Is there limit how many times I can do this? I want to stay in Thailand for 6 months and I do not want to fly back to Europe to get the METV.
    Thank you very much,
    Anna

    1. You can still apply for a single-entry tourist visa at the Thai Embassy or Consulate in a neighboring country of Thailand. As long as you can prove that you are a bona fide tourist, you should be able to obtain another one when you reapply for a tourist visa.

  10. I have a 2 months tourist visa which expires on 11 December 2015. If I extend another 30 days visa 2 weeks before expiry, will the new 30 days extension start from 12 Dec 2015 to 10 January 2016 or on the day I apply at the immigration? Thank you.

    1. It will be another 30 days on top of your permitted stay in Thailand and will start, therefore, on 12 of December 2015.

  11. Hello, I am EU citizen and I was doing an internship in Thai company for 3 months, having educational visa. It will expire by 1.st of December and I would like to stay in Thailand for another 6 months to travel since I did not have time to do so yet. Can you. explain me the steps for making the tourist visa last 6 months? I understand that I have to apply for them out of Thailand. Lets say before the 1st od December I will go to the Thai Consulate in Lao and apply for multiple entry tourist visa with validity of 6 months. I can stay in Thailand for 60 days only so what will be the next step for me if I want to stay another 4 months? I will have to cross borders and when I come back I will have another 60 days for traveling in Thailand? And after another 60 days i should do the same process for receiving another 60 days? Do I understand it correct? Thank you very much.

    1. The 6-month multiple-entry visa must be applied for by the applicants at the Thai Embassy or Consulate in their home country. For more information about this visa and the process of application, please contact the Thai Embassy or Consulate near you.

  12. I am here on a 30 day visa on arrival but wish to extend my travels. Can I apply for a tourist visa here in Thailand and cross the border to wait? What is required and what is the process? I am currently in Pai.

    1. Tourist visa applications cannot be lodged inside Thailand. Please visit the Thai Embassy in your country or in any neighboring country of Thailand if you wish to apply for a visa.

  13. Hello, I am currently traveling around Thailand and want to apply for a multiple entry visa for as long as possible (please can you tell me the max amount) as I will be traveling southeast Asia for at least 6 months, but I seen one of the requirements is that I have flights showing I will be leaving but as my plan is open ended I haven’t booked any flights out, can I get a multiple entry visa without this? I have plenty of funds I can prove. Thank you in advance.

    1. We advice that you contact the Thai Embassy or Consulate near you in regard to your concern.

  14. Hi, I have a Non-B visa right now and my work permit expires on 26th Nov. I’m wondering if will i have a problem as my business visa & wp were done in Bangkok and I will apply for the 30 days extension in Chonburi as this where will be my living address after my visa & wp expires? Pls help. Thank you in advance

    1. Business visa can only be extended to 7 days. If you wish to stay longer than 7 days, you will need to apply for a new visa outside Thailand. Depending on your nationality, you may also do a border run and be permitted to stay in Thailand for 15 or 30 days.

  15. I have visa on arrival, which is valid only for 14 days. But my flight back is 2 days after visa expire. Do i have to extend my visa or i will be just obliged to pay the fine when leaving kingdom?

    1. You may check with the immigration office if they can allow you to get an extension to your visa on arrival.

  16. Hi there,
I got a double entry tourist visa from Laos about 2 months ago, and now I have to extend my 30 days for my 1st entry here in Hatyai.

What are the requirements that I need for me to be able to extend my stay? Do I still need to show a house contract with a minimum 1 yr of stay?

    Thank you.

    1. For an extension to a tourist visa, you may be required to show proof of accommodation in Thailand, but a 1-year house contract would not be necessary. It is best to check with the immigration office in Hatyai in regard to the documents that they may require of you.

  17. I am living in a condo at the moment and my landlord has not registered me. He will most likely after I go and extend my tourist visa. Will this cause any problems getting my visa extension? How much information regarding where I am staying is required?
    Thanks

    1. You will need to show proof of your address in Thailand. If the address is not registered under your name, then you will need to provide other supporting document such as proof of identification and letter from the owner attesting that you are permitted to stay in the house. For more details, please contact the immigration office near you.

  18. Hello,
me and my girlfriend have a visa for two times 60 days (-> 120 days with two entries), which we got in the Thai embassy in Germany. We nearly finished our first 60 days now, but we changed our traveling plans and don’t want to leave now. Therefore we got two questions.

    1. Is it possible to start the second 60 days without crossing the border? (maybe at an immigration office? we stay near to Sriracha at the moment)

    2. Our visa was accepted in Germany, because we could proof, that we will leave Thailand again per flight in february 2016. If we start the second part of our visa in a few days, they will end before our flight from bangkok in february. Therefore we need to know, if we can get another 30 days visa after the ending of our second 60 days.

Thank you and hope to hear from you soon!

    1. You may apply for 30 days extension if you wish to stay longer in Thailand. This applied to both your first and second entry. If you want to use your second tourist visa entry, you will need to make an exit or border trip.

  19. Dear Sir.
I’m an English teacher who has worked in Thailand for 2 years. I would like to know if it’s possible to change my visa and the work permit to a different language company without going out of Thailand to restart the visa acquisition. My visa and work permit is expiring on January 13th 2016. Is it possible to change it now to another company without going out before the expiration?

    1. Since you are moving from one company to another, you will be required to start your visa application outside Thailand and therefore you will be required to make exit trip.

  20. My boyfriend visited me here and he got a tourist visa from Malaysia which will last on December 19th that is prior to 60days period…Can he still extend it for another 30 days? Where and how? Thank you..
Hope to hear from u soon…

    1. If he has not yet applied for any extension for his tourist visa, he may visit any immigration office in Thailand to apply for a 30-day extension.

  21. Dear Sir,

I arrived in Thailand on the 30th of October with a tourist visa of 60 days required in my country before my arrival. I would like to stay an extra 30 days which will be extended till the 28th of January when I will leave the country to go to Australia but the 9th of February I will return to Thailand and the 10th I will have my flight back home. I will arrive from Australia at Don Mueng airport and leave to go back to Europe the day after from Suvarnabhumi airport… What type of visa shall I request in order to be allow to stay till then? Where can I require this?

Thanks very much in advance for your kindness.

    Best regards,

    Stefania

    1. First, you may visit any immigration office in Thailand if you wish to apply for an extension to your visa. Then depending on your nationality, you may be eligible to be permitted to stay in Thailand for up to 30 days without a visa when you come back to Thailand after your trip from Australia.

  22. Hi there, I am on a tourist visa stamped on my passport when I arrived in Thailand via International Airport last November 2, 2015. That means my tourist visa expires on December 2, 2015. Can I extend my this for another month? What process should I take to do this?

    Thank you

    1. Please visit the immigration office in Thailand to apply for an extension to your stay. By the way, the stamp that you have on your passport is not a tourist visa since it is only valid for one month, but rather a visa exempt stamp.

  23. Hey,

This year I’ve used up 3 two-month tourist-visas which I got from the Thai consulate back home. Used them up almost completely so by that time I spent 6 months in Thailand. Then I went to fly out for a weekend, came back in and was given a 30 day visa on arrival.

As of this date I’ve spent a total of 184 days in the country and wish to stay here until jan 12th 2016. The next step for me is to go to the immigration office and try to have my current 30 day visa extended. I absolutely don’t work in Thailand, I am just here to be with my girlfriend and I do remote work for companies back home and I can prove this with bank statements.

Are they likely to extend my visa at the immigration office? Or should I just take another flight out and in again and hope they don’t start counting? Is there even an overall limit to the amount of days they will actually let you stay in a year? Any tips on how to make this work?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. If you have not yet applied for an extension to your current tourist visa, then you should be able to get an extension at the immigration office. As long as you can prove to the Thai Embassy that you are a bona fide tourist, then you should have no problem getting a tourist visa every time.

  24. Hi,

I have triple visa Thai but I used 1 now. I want to go to Myanmar after that I want to go back again in Thailand. And after 10 days I want to go again to Mynamar for 10 days. I want to know my double entery finished or not? I want re-entery I can use my visa for 4 time. Now my visa 3 and I can use for time or 5 times because I’m too much traveling.

    1. When you make an exit trip from Thailand while on a tourist visa, the visa will become invalid, unless you have applied for a re-entry permit prior to leaving the country. Keep in mind that the re-entry permit will not extend the validity of the visa. It will only allow you to make trips in and out of Thailand within the visa validity period.
