  1. Hi,

I got a 30 day tourist visa on arrival then extended it by 30 days. It expires on the 31st of january. What is the best method to extend my stay in thailand for another 60days? Ireland passport holder.

    Thank you!

    1. First, you can apply for a 30 days extension at any immigration office in Thailand. Then when the 30 days extension is over, you can do a border run to a neighboring country to get another 30 days stamp.

  2. Hi,

I’m currently in Vientiane and need a single entry 60-day visa for Thailand. I haven’t yet decided when to return back home to Finland(not going to overstay the visa tho).
I guess the Tourist visa is the way to go, but the lack of return ticket worries me. What would you recommend for me?

    1. You may provide travel itineraries as proof that you are not going to overstay in Thailand. It is best if you can directly speak to someone from the Thai Embassy where you wish to lodge your application to know more about your options regarding your concern.

  3. Hi

Slovakia, tourist visa for 60days which expires 24th January. I would like to stay longer for additional 2 months so i would fly home end of March.
I must change the flight departure on emirates.
But, the immigration office will extend my visa only for 30 days.

Is it no problem for them if they will see my ticket with different date of departure ? Or they will tell me, we will not give you extension until you rebook ticket again.
Rebook cots me 150€ so i dont want to make mistake

    1. It is not likely that the immigration office will ask for your flight departure tickets when you apply for an extension, so this should not be a problem. Please note, however, that you can apply for an extension of 30 days for one time only. You will need to leave and re-enter Thailand if you wish to stay longer beyond the validity date of your extension.

  4. I’ve currently got a 60 day tourist visa which I can extend at immigration by 30 days. When that runs out can I apply for another 60day tourist visa in vietnam? And if so do I need to be out of the country a certain number of days?

    1. Yes, you may apply for the tourist visa at some Thai Embassies or Consulates in a neighboring country of Thailand. However, we recommend that you first contact the one in Vietnam to verify if they can process your application. The duration of tourist visa processing make take at least 2 days.

  5. I have a multiple entry tourist visa of 60 days with 1 entry left that expires on the 27th of January. My flight back to Australia is on the 3rd of February from Phuket and I’m currently in Koh Tao. What would be the best and cheapest solution? Can I get the immigration office in Phuket and get the extra 30 days or do I have to cross borders or pay for the extra 7 days?

    1. To be able to stay in Thailand for another 30 days, you may either do a border run at any border checkpoint in Thailand or go to the Immigration Office and apply for an extension to your visa.

  6. Hi sir,

I’m Italian. I entered Thailand with a visa on arrival at the airport (30 days). I would like to get 30 more days. Can I do this going out of the border from Ranong? And if yes, are there agency who provide this service? Otherwise, flying to Malaysia for one day would be enough?

    Thanks

    1. Yes, you are eligible to get a 30 days entry stamp when you enter Thailand either by air travel or by exiting at the border. There are agencies who provide assistance to border runners but we’re sorry to inform you that we are not able to refer you to one.

  7. Hi,

My current tourist visa expires on 30 January 2016. (I would have been in the country for 90 consecutive day) I only want to leave on 21 March 2016.

What is the process to get another 60 days. Do I simply go to Laos and re-enter?

    1. Depending on your nationality, you may be able to obtain a 60-day stamp by making a border trip to a neighboring country such as Laos. Another option is for you to apply for a tourist visa at the Thai Embassy or Consulate outside Thailand.

  8. Hi. I’m currently in Thailand on a 30 day today tourist visa, leaving at the end of this month to travel some more of southeast Asia. I intend to return to Thailand in about a month and (as I hold a British passport) I understand that I’ll be granted another 30 day visa. I’m just wondering if I can extend my visa to 60 days when I’m given the original 30 day one at the airport, or if I have to have my 30 day one and then go to another immigration office? Thank you.

    1. You can apply for an extension to your stay for maximum period of 30 days at any immigration office in Thailand. An extension can only be applied once, then the applicant will need to leave Thailand after it has become expired.

Is there any way possible I would be able to stay here until March 10th?

    1. You are only allowed to extend your stay once and therefore you will have to make an exit trip or visa run to another country if you wish to stay in Thailand until March 10.

  18. Dear Sir/Madam

I hope that you can help me with a few questions.

My wife and I are visiting Hua Hin on February 1st and will be leaving Thailand February 22nd. We will arrive in Hua Hin by train from Kuala Lumpur and will therefore only be granted a stay of 15 days. This means that we will overstay for 7 days.

We would of course like to extend our visas while in Hua Hin so that we don’t have to pay the fine of 500 Bath per day per person at the Suvarnabhumi airport. Is this possible in Hua Hin? How much is it per person and what do we need to bring to get the tourist visa extensions?

    Best regards
    Peter Sloth
